CCIE Security LAB in August 2006 [bcc][faked-from]
How do you figure Scott? Cisco WAS NOT specific in their original announcement,
“Addition of two ASA-5510 Firewall Appliances running v7.x.”
Let’s look at the new blue print: http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/ccie/security/lab_exam_blueprint_v2.html
>From the blueprint listed there, I see multiple ways of including either SSM in the ASA’s!
And on this page here: http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/ccie/security/lab_equipment.html
Cisco doesn’t list the modules in it’s routers - so there’s absolutely no 100% way to be sure that we are not going to see an SSM in the ASA’s…not to mention there are going to be TWO ASA’s per pod…I could see a CSC in one and an AIP in the other…

That would qualify as both a hardware and a blueprint change. Neither are covered by the announcement for Jan 1. that’s not to say that mid-year they wouldn’t migrate in, but there would be an announcement again regarding this.
My guess is that it’s following the CCIE program’s long-standing idea that something should be well-tested in the field first before showing up in the lab. And it would simply be a policy change then anyway in your configuration. (e.g. the modules aren’t incredibly difficult to configure)
Nothing to stress about now IMHO.

That’s correct. Right now it’s about 60% security, 40% R&S. It’s going to change to about 85% security and 15% R&S. FYI - I heard this at networkers.
My big question, are there going to be any modules in the ASA’s? I’ve heard rumors about the anti-x module (security services), but I havent gotten confirmation on this yet.
